In February 2009, my friend, Cuban-born political-scientist and ethnologist Carlos Moore was in Los Angeles for an appearance on the Tavis Smiley Show, regarding his book "Pichon: Race and Revolution in Castro's Cuba." The following day, he visited my art studio. Here he is with my baby daughter Zion.		Summer 2009, Carlos Moore flies from his home in Brazil to conduct a book signing tour in the States for his authorized biography of the legendary late Fela Kuti, in conjunction with Femi Kuti's (Fela's son's) concert tour. July 9, 2009, I host a book signing at my art studio of Carlos Moore's Fela biography.

The book signing at my art studio features a free live musical performance by Mexico 68, a Chicano-Funk Los Angeles-based band with an Afrobeat flavor. Carlos Moore arrives at the book signing and has a picture taken with me.		Carlos Moore's friend Karina Muñiz, who helped organize the book signing tour, is busy at the front door, greeting guests who eagerly wait in line to purchase Carlos' biography on his departed friend Fela Kuti, pioneer of Afrobeat music.

Carlos takes a phone call as his friends begin to arrive.		Smiles and laughter abound.

Warm embraces fill the art studio with a spirit of love . . .		. . . as Carlos Moore gleefully introduces friends to one another.
