This is an unfinished portrait of my siblings and me with my parents' collie Ashley and their cat Missy who are now in doggy and kitty heaven. I began the painting in 1998, many years ago, for my mom and dad, who live in Spain. Since the painting is in Spain, I have not had a chance to finish it. Whenever I go to Spain, it's always hard to concentrate on painting. I'd rather relax and enjoy my reunion with my parents and siblings.
In 2005, during a vacation at my parent's home in Spain, I attempted to for once finish the painting. A gust of wind blew the canvas off of the easel. The wooden frame of a director's chair impaled the canvas. The result was a gaping gash right through my sister Alicia's face. I spent most of that vacation repairing the injury with an iron on patch on the back of the canvas and restoring my sister's damaged face. Before I was able to finish the painting, our vacation was over, but my sister's face was fixed. My next vacation in Spain, I will endeavor to finally finish the painting!
