This is the first in a series of oil paintings I've begun on cats in solid backgrounds with desirable objects in front of them. My children immediately recognized that this painting is a portrait of our black cat Leo who is often missing in action. Leo reappears after weeks of elusiveness, even fatter than before having left for his sojourn. In fairness to Leo, it is our rambunctious German Shepherd Puppy Mickey who scares our cat away.
