This painting is somewhat of an expansion of the painting I made called Mother Mary at the Cross, in which I painted only Mary and Jesus. The posture and positioning of Jesus and Mary are different, in this expanded scene. Here, I attempted to show the element of wind and the shaking of the ground by the earthquake, using hair as the vehicle. I also included as many circumstances of the crucifixion as I could, according to the four Gospels.
